During my commute I like to tune out and listen to audio books. I started listening to this audio book called “You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. My sister kept bugging me to download it and it’ s now a new favorite of mine. The book talks about how if we all stopped worrying about what other people thought and just followed our intuition, we would live happier and healthier lives. I completely agree. Why waste our precious time worrying about other’s opinions or wishing we were something else? But why is it so hard for us to do so? Especially women? A lot of us just grow up programmed that way.
Once upon a time I used to wish I was a smaller person so I would “fit in with the rest of my girlfriends” and not stand out awkwardly in my heels. Now – I wouldn’t change my height for the world. My 5’9″ frame is one of my favorite traits about myself. I can reach things off tall shelves, get the front seat with more leg room and intimidate any man shorter than me if he decides to be rude. Half kidding.
At a 154 pounds, size 29 jeans and size 10 feet I am not a small person. And you know what? I am totally okay with that. I feel sexy and living life just the way I am. Sure, at times I wish I could fit into a sample size and swap shoes with girlfriends. Instead, my curves fill out the clothes I wear and I get to keep my shoe collection all to myself because no one else is my size. (Except my sister and my mom – those lucky ladies.)
All I am saying is, we should learn to love ourselves a little more and stop wishing we were something else. It is just time wasted that could be spent on a million other things. Check out this book. It is totally worth your time. Listen to it on Audible while you’re in the car. It’s a fantastic pick-me-up at any point in our lives. Oh! And don’t forget to enter the Sicky Sunglasses Giveaway! There are only a few days left to win these sick sunnies!
