Why I Prefer to Be Spontaneous Instead of Having a Plan
Today I want to share why I prefer to be spontaneous instead of always having a plan. I have never been a Type A personality where everything has to be perfect all of the time. However, I was also never really a fly by the seat of your pants kind of gal either. I used to write down a schedule for myself to follow: leave the house at 9 am, arrive by 9:30 am, leave by…blah blah blah. Or get these big ideas in my head of how my first date with a guy should go. Over the last year, that mentality has completely flown out the window. More than ever before, I now prefer to be completely spontaneous. Why? Because expectations are so much lower and with that, I’m likely to enjoy myself more. There is so much less pressure and I don’t have to bother about getting frustrated when things don’t go as planned because there never was a plan! I can just live in the moment and go with the flow.
Of course, sometimes it is important to have some kind of plan or schedule. Particularly when I’m traveling and have to be somewhere at a certain time. Other than that, as long as I know where I am sleeping and where my phone is, I’m good! Some of my favorite memories are from spontaneous decisions. For example, when my one-night sleepover at Liz’s house turned into a 3-day staycation and a million amazing photos for Instagram. Or when we booked a last minute trip to Temecula.
Being spontaneous is like being a kid again -living in the moment and taking in life. So I invite you all to try being a bit more spontaneous. Put your phone away and just live in the moment making life up as you go.
Thanks for reading and go have some fun today! (And don’t forget to enter my giveaway with IT Cosmetics!!)
xoxo,
Laura
