I was recently invited to Urban 1972’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles for a styling event. I had no idea what to expect so I walked in with an open mind. It was incredible inside. They had racks and racks of new samples for us to style. Walls of jewelry, shoes and handbags waiting to be used. There was also plenty of snack food and as much as I wanted to stuff my face with Cheetos after working 8 hours at my full-time job, I stayed focus and got my outfits together.
Now this has happened a few times when I visit a showroom and get discouraged because I am not a sample size. I pulled a mid length skirt and when I realized it was going to be too tight as a skirt, I left it as a strapless dress. Ta dah! I walked out of the dressing room feeling very proud of my versatility in styling and owning that look like I originally planned it that way. Yeah- I turned heads. I believe it was mostly due to my confidence in that look.
Lately I’ve been obsessing over what to wear to Derby Days (it is not until July) so when I found a big rimmed hat I knew instantly the theme for this first outfit. A threw on some colorful heels and an orange studded belt to clinch my waist.
The most difficult part of the photo shoot was not being able to go home with everything I styled. I especially have my eye on the gold & black square bangles bracelets!
