This dress is special. It is by a designer called Torn by Ronny Kobo whose collection I constantly find myself attracted to. This particular dress I saw for the first time during NYFW while I was helping my fellow friend and blogger Elizabeth unpack her massive suitcase full of amazing clothes. I pulled this dress out and instantly fell in love. I couldn’t pull myself away from the mosaic print and bold colors. Plus the fabric was soft, stretchy and a bit heavy- perfect for the freezing New York winter. I told myself that someday I would find this dress and recently my wish came true.
I saw it on the clearance rack a few days ago on sale, but still out of my price range. When I learned Bloomingdale’s sale- an extra 30% off clearance plus 15% for Bloomies’s card holders, I knew the universe was giving me a great opportunity to get this dress. I tried it on, but was still hesitant about spending over $100 on one dress. I reluctantly put it back on the rack and told myself that if it was still there days later when I returned, that the dress was meant to be. All weekend I thought about the dress, all the ways I could style it, if there were other things I would rather spend my money on. Each day my heart was more towards hoping the dress would still be there than thinking I could live without it. Finally the day came, I found it on the sale rack and watched the discounts knock down the price to a beautiful 65% off the original price. Would I normally spend that much on a dress? No, but this dress is special and as I get older I find myself buying less in quantity and higher quality.
Recently I have also been wearing very unique and attention grabbing items such as my Clover Canyon dress, and Aminah Abdul Jillil Pink Bow Pumps. What can I say, I like to make a statement. Let me know what you think of this dress and how you would style it in the comments below.
Style Tip: when considering buying an item. Try to think of at least 3 ways you can wear it to make sure you can get good use out of it. For this dress, I plan to wear it by itself with strappy black heels, with a blazer and pumps for work and with black tights, booties, and a black cape during the colder months.
Just wait until you see the Alice & Olivia skirt I scored at the sale too 😉
