Sharing spring work outfits today to step up your style at the office. One of the things I actually miss about working in an office is getting dressed up for work every day. Working from home as a full-time blogger, sometimes I don’t even get out of my pajamas. Then the UPS guy rings my doorbell and it’s embarrassing to answer in my snowflake pajamas and unbrushed hair. (Real life of a blogger.) Luckily, I still get to put fun outfits together like this one for business meetings that pull me out of the house. Here are a few tips for stepping up your spring work outfits…
“Always dress for the job you want, not the job you have.”
Spring Work Outfits – Trench Coats
If I could only wear one style of jacket for the rest of my life, it would be a trench coat. If I had room in my closet, (and didn’t have to see my credit card bill,) I’d own one in every color of the rainbow. A trench coat adds sophistication to an outfit making them perfect for the office. I especially love lace versions like this one. It looks just like the Burberry version that sells for $3,000!
Spring Work Outfits – Dresses
I’m happy I am a woman for so many reasons. One of them being that I don’t have to wear pants every day. The styles of dresses you can wear to work largely depend on your industry. When I worked in marketing we had a bit more freedom with what we could wear as opposed to my finance job which was a bit more conservative. I always went by what I saw the female executives wearing in the office and then added my own flare from there. My general rule is: if you wouldn’t wear it in front of your grandmother, you probably shouldn’t wear it to the office. This suede belted dress is elegant yet daring. You can wear a light sweater to cover your shoulders at the office or even layer a button-up shirt underneath it.
Shoes
Shoes are such a fun way to add some sass to your office look because you can get away with a bit more than clothes. Again, whether or not you can wear opened toed shoes depends on your office environment. But even at a finance office, I was able to wear strappy sandals. (Just no casual shoes like flip flops or sneakers.) I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite spring work shoes below.
Spring Work Outfits – Bags
Your handbag is another way to dress up your work look. And as I always say, buy inexpensive work clothes + accessories so you can splurge on handbags and shoes! Most days I was lugging a laptop to and from the office so it required a bit larger bag than you see here. But it is always nice being able to carry a smaller bag when possible.
One other fun way to dress up your spring look is with a brooch. I treated myself to a Chanel brooch one year and wear it on everything including belts, hats, jackets, dresses, scarves and it instantly makes any outfit look more high end. Just a little tip for ya 😉 As always, thank you for stopping by!
