In my last blog post, I showed you my favorite outfits that I’ve worn during New York Fashion Week. Today, I’m sharing my best memories. Each season has had so many incredible experiences and made each trip to special. This post will highlight some of my favorite…
Beginning with meeting one of my favorite bloggers, Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad. I am not one to be entranced by celebrities, they are real people too and I prefer to leave them alone. However, there are only two people in the world I want to meet. One is Kate Middleton. I mean COME ON, who doesnt want to meet that beautiful woman in person!? (I’m obsessed with her.) The second is Chiara. I started reading Chiara’s blog months before I finally took the leap in 2012 to start my own blog. Getting to meet her in real life was pretty awesome. She was down to earth, from what I gathered. It’s not the size of there following that keep me following her. In all honesty, it’s her work ethic, ability to brush off the haters and keep doing what she loves. All while staying truly herself. You go girl.
I had the pleasure of running into her again one year later in 2013 along with Shea Marie of the blog Peace, Love, Shea. Again, Shea is another blogger I admire for her work ethic, creativity, and passion for what she does no matter what anyone says. Or maybe I always just wished I was a blonde?
Another memorable moment was getting to go backstage at one of my favorite runway shows- BCBG MAX AZRIA. The woman sitting next to me during the show is a close friend of Lubov Azria (pictured above) and invited me backstage with her. You never know who you’ll meet and who they know, so just be nice to everyone.
I always love the Target and fashion designer collaborations. One season at Fashion Week I got to attend the Phillip Lim for Target launch party. Celebrities like Jessica Alba, Solange, and Maria Sharapova were there. But that is not what got me all excited. It was also a shopping party. The chance to get my hands on limited edition, first hand pieces from the collection. I managed to snag and take home a mini satchel that I still wear all the time to this day. I was a very happy (and slightly buzzed) girl that night as you can probably tell from the photo. What can I say, if you combine shopping and champagne, I am bound to get myself into trouble. You can see more photos from the event here.
My first, and so far only, trip to NYFW in the winter has been my favorite trip overall. Even though it was so cold I could barely feel my limbs at times, I have more memories and laughs from this trip than any other. All thanks to my girls Liz, Roxy, and Kier. We all stayed at the Empire Hotel and spent each day out on the town. Attending fashion shows, trying new restaurants, drinking wine in our rooms to try and warm up before heading out for dinner. Oh the memories. It was like Sex and the City became real life.
Another great memory from my very first trip was getting to spend it with one of my best friends, Lexi whose wedding I wrote about recently on the blog. She took a train down from her home in Philadelphia to spend time with me while I was in New York. I managed to get her into one of the shows with me. As we walked out of the show a street style photographer started snapping photos of her. After all that, she understood why I love the entire NYFW experience so much and just how much energy a day full of adrenaline can take out of you. More photos from this memory here. Check out Lexi’s blog for fantastic vegan recipes and gardening tips.
Looking forward to creating more great fashion week memories in the years to come! Who knows, maybe next year it will be Paris and Milan! Don’t forget to check out all my favorite fashion week outfits here. If you’ve ever been to NYFW I would love to hear about your best memories at fashion week! If you’ve never been, what are some things you’d love to do there? Leave them in the comments below!
