Milly in Paradise

Every piece of clothing or accessory I own has it’s own little story that I love to tell. This Milly parrot print dress is no exception. I have loved the designer Milly for years ever since I saw Chiara Ferragni wearing her graphic coat at NYFW years ago. ( I am still obsessed with this coat and have been trying to find it on Ebay for months. If anyone sees it please let me know!) Anyway- I saw a girl wearing this exact same dress at the Santa Anita Kentucky Derby Party weeks ago. I have no shame in asking someone who there are wearing or where they got it. Always start with a compliment, it immediately warms up the conversation and they are more likely to tell you. Don’t both telling me “oh you’ll never find it” or I will make it my mission like I did with my Charles David wedges years ago. Anyway…. I was so happy when she told me it was Milly and she bought it recently. I finally found a Milly item to add to my collection and brought it to Hawaii with me to shoot in Paradise. We shot these photos at Turtle Bay Resort. I already have this dress in mind to wear it to the next horse race I attend complete with another DIY Derby Day hat that I cannot wait to make!
This red-orange lip color is my new favorite too. The lipstick is “Lady Danger” by M.A.C. The name alone is cool.
