The first day of Fashion Week I hit the ground running. My friend Tony and I had taken the red-eye from Los Angeles to New York City. Tony was nice enough to upgrade me to Delta One and that made the trip a million times more enjoyable. As soon as our car stopped at the curb at LAX I didn’t even have to touch my luggage. The Delta One staff handled all of it. No lines, no waiting. Before boarding the plane we had a light dinner in the Delta Sky Club. Honestly, after being treated so well with Delta I think I’m going to stick to one airline carrier from now on to reap the benefits. It just makes flying so much more enjoyable! I slept like a baby on the plane thanks to the 180-degree reclinable seats. That never happens. Red eyes are never easy flights to make, but I could do it again with Delta One 😉
We got to our hotel quite early so I ended up doing my hair and makeup in the lobby. The decor at The Roger is seriously something out of my home decor Pinterest board. I loved all of it! We met with the Jessica Simpson team for lunch at the Refinery Rooftop. It was a nice to catch up and talk about some upcoming project ideas. Cannot wait to try Jessica’s new activewear line!
After lunch, it was off to my first show of Fashion Week: Marissa Webb. I don’t know why, but something about walking into a fashion show always brings a rush of emotions: excitement, nerves, adrenaline. No wonder I am so tired after a day of shows. Marissa’s collection was great. Lots of gingham and lace up details. My favorite were the blush silk trench coats. Damsel in Dior labeled it perfectly, ” Every blogger and their dog were at that show.” LOL. It’s fun to see what other bloggers are wearing. Although sometimes I wish people would step out of the box with their look or wear something a little more creative for fashion week. But when I am attending the biggest fashion show of the year I like to push limits.
My outfit for this show was one of my favorites the I wore all week. It had all the things that make a great outfit: texture, good fit, a combination of elements- in this case, feathers and lace. The feather blazer is a DIY project I made paired with a backless lace dress from Asos. The heels are by Jessica Simpson and I honestly wish they would make this same style in more colors because they are the most comfortable heels I own!
Looking forward to showing you all more looks from New York Fashion Week! Til then, you can catch some sneak peeks on my Instagram!
