Alright, it’s a day before New Year’s Eve and you have nothing to wear. Don’t panic! There is bound to be something fabulous lingering around your wardrobe! You just have to step back and look for it. With NYE tomorrow there is no time to order anything (sorry) and you probably don’t want to spend precious hours before the big night grudging around the mall trying to find something. Or maybe you do? That is up to you. Just remember to plan time for hair, makeup, and pre-partying. It’s the whole process of getting ready that makes New Year’s Eve fun and all the more if you’re not rushed.
So let’s start from square one: What is the weather going to be like? Hey- this matters to some people. LA is going to be cold and raining so I’ll make sure to leave my suede boots at home. Two, what kind of event are you going to? Is is casual, cocktail, black tie, etc? Don’t be afraid to ask what other party goers are going to wear. I am the type of person who always prefers to be overdressed rather than under dressed anyway. Three, I like to plan all my outfits around one specific piece that I know I want to wear.
Take this sequin top for example. It’s pretty on it’s own and very easy to dress up. I wanted to add a bit of sass so I threw on my beloved over-the-knee boots (best shoe purchase ever.) Then I wanted to add more glam so stacked on lots of sparkling jewelry. Really, you can dress any look up with lots of jewelry. It works well if you pair smaller delicate pieces with some statement pieces. Since I know it will be cold, it’s always good to have some kind of jacket on hand. I was going for a more sophisticated look with this black blazer. Next, to maximize the sex appeal, I wore my favorite knit skirt (I can have a food baby in this thing and it will stretch right along with me.) Don’t forget your trusty clutch. What I mean by this is carry a bag that can fit everything you’ll need that night and not be so small you’re forced to carry your phone in your hand. That is a recipe for losing it!
Finally, pick out a beauty look that you makes you feel good. Bold lip, smokey eye, false lashes. Whatever it is, do you boo boo. And this is why I say leave yourself enough time to get ready so you have time to enjoy the process!
So here are all the pieces you need to recreate this look from your own closet by tomorrow night:
1. cute top
2. knit skirt
3. sexy shoes
4. glam jewelry
5. trusty clutch
6. Makeup that wows
