How to Decorate a Bookshelf
On Friday I shared my latest DIY home decor project: a hutch transformation with a beautiful metallic floral wallpaper and brushed brass with frosted glass drawer pulls.
Today I wanted to share how to decorate a bookself and give more detail about the pieces I used while decorating my hutch. My best rule for decorating is to use pieces you love. Especially pieces that have meaning such as items you’ve picked up from your travels, heirlooms, and pieces you fall in love with and make you happy each time you look at them.
I generally like to decorate in groups of three. As you notice each shelf has 3 sets of items. To avoid the shelves looking cluttered, I spaced items apart. This also helped show off more of the metallic floral wallpaper.
Items you can use include to decorate a bookshelf:
- photo frames
- bowls + bowls filled with faux or real fruit
- china/dishes
- books + bookends
- bottles of alcohol
- trays
- vases + jars
- board games
- cookie jars
I use the cabinets below to store extra wine glasses, cake trays, and serving platters.
