DIY Wedding Ideas

I thought I’d expand a bit from my usual style and beauty posts to talk weddings…

No, I am not engaged, although someday I would like to be. But today’s post isn’t about me. This one is dedicated to one of my oldest, and dearest friends, Lexi.  Last summer, I went back to Minnesota where I grew up to celebrate her and Josh getting married.  Lexi and I have been best friends since middle school when we met in seventh grade. All through high school, we were inseparable.  I moved to California at the end of junior year and even then, months would pass and when we were together it was as if time had stood still for us. Easily picking up where our last conversations left off.

Seeing her get married was such a special experience and one I was so happy to be a part of. She was the most easy going and beautiful bride I had ever seen. Literally, nothing worried her that day and it was an amazing thing to witness.  She had given her bridesmaids a mint green color palette to choose our dresses from and the end result could not have been more perfect; Complete with beautiful flower crowns to match her bouquet.  She wore a vintage dress from the 1940’s as her “something old” and mint green shoes to match our bridesmaid dresses.

The event was held outside at her uncles’s home in Minnesota.  The two exchanged vows and the party began.  Everything about her wedding to Josh had these two written all over it. Including their very own DIY wedding ideas come to life all over the ceremony.  Lexi and I used to spend hours going to the craft store and scrapbook at each other’s houses. Maybe that’s where my love for DIY projects sprouted.  From the hand-painted wooden signs to the block of wood that held her wedding cake, to the to the guest book, and candy station, everything was beautiful, just like Lexi.

One of the most memorable parts of the evening was the live performance by Josh’s band Hale Storm. The group had written the song solely for Lexi and Josh’s first dance.  When I heard it live while watching these two lovebirds embrace each other as husband and wife, it was so beautiful it gave me chills. I hope they release it someday so you can all hear it.

There are plenty of Pinterest goodies in this blog posts. For all of you future brides out there, have fun pinning!  Check out Lexi’s blog Miembre Musings to see what she is up to on her path to building a new business and some amazing vegan recipes!

Love you Lex! Hope to see you soon!
xoxo,

Laura
