In honor of the new month of February, I decided to do a Valentine’s Day themed DIY project for you all. This is an easy and fun project to do. You can make your heart clutch in any color you want. Plus, it’s a neat gift to give away too!
Time: 15 minutes
Skill level: Easy
Cost: $10
Supplies:
- 2 pieces of red felt (33 cents each)
- yarn (any color) $1
- 1 button $3
- marker
- scissors
- sewing needle (large enough to fit the yarn you choose) This set was $2.50
Step 1: Draw out half of a heart on 1 piece of the red felt. I drew dots to cut along the dotted line.
Step 2: Fold the same piece of felt in half and cut along the dotted lines. This will ensure both sides of the clutch are the same.
Step 3: Traced the finished heart over the second piece of red felt. After tracing, cut the second piece of red felt so that you have two matching pieces to sew together.
Step 4: Thread the yarn through the needle to begin sewing. I used a size 18 needle. You may have to use a larger or thinner needle depending on the size of the thread/yarn you decide to use. Sew all the way around the bottom of the heart pieces leaving the top open.
Step 5: Sew the button to piece you want to be the front of the clutch.
Step 6: Attaching the button and loop: SSew through the back of the heart and create a loop. This will be the piece that wraps around the button to close clutch.
You now have a gorgeous DIY heart clutch! If you have any questions, please leave me a comment below. You can see more of my favorite DIY projects below:
