Gel manicures are absolutely amazing. If you have not tried one yet, you absolutely must. I had my first one this past fall for NYFW and loved not having to worry about my nail polish chipping. My manicure looked fresh everyday for weeks (3 to be exact.) I love regular polish too, but it always chips. And for a girl on a budget, I don’t have the finances to get a new $35-45 gel manicure every 3 weeks. That cost adds up quickly! So when I found out about a DIY at home gel manicure set by Gelish MINI, I was excited to try it out.
There are a few steps involved in a gel manicure. Totally worth the time and energy to have a gel mani that lasts weeks! I decided to go with a winter color and used “Bella Vampire.” The entire process took me about 30 minutes. This includes waiting the 1-2 minutes for your nails to cure between coats in the LED curing light. I made sure to read the directions before and during the application. Overall, I was very impressed. The application was simple and took me as long as a regular manicure without having to wait for it to dry afterwards. I am not gentle on my nails either. Between horse back riding, crafts, and being on a computer all day, my nails get plenty of wear and tear. I am happy to report, I have had this manicure on 2 weeks, no chips, stays glossy just like a professional grade gel manicure. I cannot wait to try more of the 93 available colors! What do you think? Are you willing to try an at home gel manicure?
You’ll need three things for this DIY gel mani: a Gelish MINI Basix Kit (seen above), Pro LED Curing Light (see below), and your choice of Soak-off Gel Polishes. With over 100 colors to choose from, I am sure you can find one or two…or three, to suit your stylish needs. Everything you need can be found at Sally Beauty supply store. Yes, I realize the price for the entire kit might be a bit pricey. But when compared to the cost of a salon treatment, and the fact that you can get a few DIY manicures out of this kit, it will definitely pay itself off. If your boyfriend tell you that you spend too much time and/or money at the nail salon, tell him to get this for you. Try it out and let me know what you think! I’ll make sure to post the next color I try on my Instagram @Laura_Lily.
