My First Christmas in the New House
This year marks my first Christmas at my new house. I moved in May so there have been a lot of firsts in this home. I’ve enjoyed getting to decorate the patio, for the 4th of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Now it’s time to reveal the decorations I’ve put up for my all-time favorite holiday…Christmas!
These decorations went up on November 1st as I wanted to enjoy them as long as possible this year. A few of these items I have had over the years including my flocked Christmas tree, reindeer, and the red velvet poinsettia garland. I did get to add a few items this year including a beautiful garland from Hearth and Hand and a matching wreath to hang on my door. Keep scrolling for more Christmas decor inspiration!
Faux fur blankets and pillows are great for adding a cozy vibe to a room. Winter themed pillows like these with snowflakes are an easy way to add Christmas to the couch, a chair, or a bedroom. The teal pillows were a Home Goods purchase this year.
A few tips I like to use to decorate for the holidays are to pick just a few colors and stick to those. Some people like red and green, or all white. I prefer a mix of silver, gold and white with pops of red here and there.

Other items I love for the holidays are nutcrackers. Target and Michael’s have quite a few good options. You may even spot a few nutcracker ornaments on my tree.
The Christmas Stockings
I also found a few pearl and rhinestone trees at Home Goods. One of my favorite new additions this year are a few red and white bejeweled stockings by Rachel Zoe. I had been to a few different Home Goods to try and find these and eventually ended up buying two of them on eBay.

And last, but certainly not least, the tree! This is a 7.5 foot pre-lit Vermont flocked tree I bought 2 years ago at Michaels. They still carry this exact one! If you are trying to decide between flocked or not, just beware that the flocking can get messy, especially with pets and kids. I miss the smell of a real tree, but this one is very convenient to store and set up.
