Aspen Ski Trip Packing List
As promised, here is my Aspen packing list guide for all you future snow bunnies! What I would give to be back in Aspen taking all that fresh mountain air and scenery at the St. Regis Hotel. You can read my full Aspen travel guide and St. Regis recap here.
Of course, this photo doesn’t show everything I brought to Aspen with me, but it does show a lot of important items that I’d like to highlight. I realize a lot of “packing guides” are picture perfect, however, I wanted this post to be above all useful.
Snacks
My friends tease me all the time because I cannot leave the house without some kind of snack on hand. My favorite are the RXbar nut butters in the flavors maple almond butter, regular almond but, er and peanut butter. I packed about 40 of these for Italy and ended up eating almost all of them.
Two essentials for the flight and traveling: a watch and chapstick.
Good skincare doesn’t end when you go on vacation. I make sure to pack ultra hydrating products, thick night creams like the PCA skin HydraLuxe lotion, my favorite SPF- EltaMD, and my new favorite skin cleansing products both by DHC: a deep cleansing oil and then a face wash powder. Both help to clean and moisturize.
My souvenir from the trip: Nacho’s World Snow Polo Championship badge.
Lots of snow gear including sunglasses, snow boots, adorable fleece mittens, alpaca snow hats and Steamline Luggage.
A portable charger like this one from myCharge is a lifesaver. Not to mention a good hand cream is a must for winter weather, too.
General Winter Clothing Guidelines:
I follow this rule when packing for a winter getaway: it is better to pack too many warm clothes than not enough. A vacation is never fun if you’re freezing and you can always take off layers. The temperatures ranged from 60 to 8 degrees while we were there in late December.
- Mid layer shirt: long sleeve sweatshirt, woolen sweater, lightweight down jacket.
- Handwarmers
- Socks
- Sweaters
- Jeans/Fleece leggings
- Mittens/Gloves
- Wool Socks
- Snow boots or water-resistant boots
*Anything suede can get ruined in the snow or the salt they use to melt the ice.
Ski/Snowboard Gear:
- Waterproof ski jacket
- Waterproof ski pants/Board pants
- Mid layer shirt: long sleeve sweatshirt, woolen sweater, lightweight down jacket.
- Thermal tops/ Base layers (non-cotton)
- Thermal pants (non-cotton)
- Neck warmer/ scarf
- Wool ski socks. I picked up a pair of Colorado merino wool socks and glad I did. The original wool socks I brought with were too thick and would have bunched in my boots causing blisters.
- Goggles or sunglasses ( I recommend investing in goggles, they help protect your face from the wind, especially on the ski lift)
Beauty/Skincare:
- Face Halo makeup removers – Not only are they great at taking off makeup, but they are environmentally friendly, too!
- Night time cream
- Oil based cleanser
- Serum
- Chapstick
- SPF
Health:
- Vitamin c packets + Vitamins
- Waterbottle. I love my reusable Swell bottle so my water stays cold or my tea stays hot and it cuts down on plastic cup use. Plus, the altitude and flying can cause headaches so make sure to drink extra water.
- Protein snacks like RXbars + nut butters.
Other:
- Lesson learned on this trip, always bring a cocktail dress. I was underdressed for the Midnight Supper event and have now vowed to always pack a semi-formal dress every trip from now on.
- Its worthwhile to check two bags instead of paying for one overweight bag.
xoxo,
Laura
