Nights in Hollywood

Hollywood is like another world to me. The bright lights, busy streets and hoards of tourists remind me a bit of New York, yet Hollywood is still it’s own city. Luckily I have a local, Kier, to show me around. Kier and I stopped by our friend and fashion designer Michelle Aquinto’s Shop It fashion event at the W Hotel. I absolutely fell in love with a jewelry boutique that night, Citizen Mod, definitely check it out. I was instantly drawn to all the sparkling jewels on the table.

A special thank you to the manager Bobby for the glass of champagne on the house. His generosity really made my night. Maybe he could tell I was wound up from a hectic work day and needed to unwind. I love champagne, but saving for New York fashion week I give up little splurges like that.

Funny story of the night-the hotel security guard came over to Kier and I telling us about a gentleman seated nearby. Supposively he is a “huge Latin pop star” who has “sold thousands of records” and would like to invite us over for a drink. Not only was this “Latin superstar” facing away from us, let me just say this…. Gentlemen, if you have to lead with your accomplishments you are lacking self-confidence as a whole. Needless to say, we politely said no as ladies do and left for the night’s next event. The scenario definitely gave me a good laugh though.

After the W, I headed over to Riviera 31 at the Sofitel Hotel for Style Haus’ two-year anniversary party and fashion show featuring New Zealand designer Andrea Moore. My love Steven was there to greet me at the door talking to none other than the designer herself. Steven, I don’t know how you do it, but you never cease to amaze me with your ability to meet the most interesting people in the room. Andrea’s line was young and fun. I particularly liked her printed suits and lace dresses. (Congrats Marina and team for a great show!)
