Spring Updates for Your Home
Spring is just around the corner and I love to do a refresh of my home to welcome the new season. I start with a deep cleaning and changing the color palette from white and gray winter tones to more pastels with pops of pink. I switch out the photo frames to photos taken in warmer weather. (See my Framebridge post here.) It is also nice to have fresh flowers to ward off those gloomy rainy days.
Update your Floors with Luxury Vinyl Flooring
When I purchased my home 4 years ago, the original hardwood floors were still intact in the bedrooms. However, at almost 100 years old, they were so worn down that I was not able to save them. I opted instead to install Luxury Vinyl Tile, aka LTV over the original hardwood floors. LTV is durable, water and pet-resistant. It comes in a variety of colors with a padded backing helping to keep noise level down and looks like natural hard wood! See more about my experience installing Everhome Flooring here.
Deep Clean Your Carpets
We have a dog and a lot of foot traffic so our carpets are in desperate need of a deep clean. Every spring I rent a carpet cleaner from Home Depot for about $50 to deep clean my carpets with a carpet cleaner. When I tell you the amount of dirt and dust that comes out in black water after we do just ONE rug with the steam cleaner, you’ll understand why this is an annual cleaning ritual. It is so satisfying to have clean rugs that I have now decided to make it a bi-annual cleaning ritual. If you don’t have the time or prefer to have someone else do it for you, Check out carpet cleaning pros on Thumbtack. Ask them if they can do each carpet twice as I usually do because one clean is not enough.
Sort Through, Organize and Give Away
Whenever I am in the mood- normally when I am procrastinating on a work project- I will pick one closet, drawer, or box to sort through. The goal is to clean out, organize, and give away anything that we don’t need or that doesn’t bring me joy. Who else cleans out a closet and then checks back on it multiple times a day just to see your beautiful handiwork? Here are a few items you can use to organize your home and your jewelry collection.
