Today is the day I get to reveal my beautiful new floors from Everhome! When I bought my first house, I knew I would need to replace the chipping 94-year-old floors. Things to know when ordering flooring:
There are a few important things to consider when ordering new flooring. Measure yourself, double check your measurements, include 7-10% extra for waste, decide if you can install the flooring on top of your existing flooring. Is your current flooring flat? If not, the planks may not click in properly and lay flat. There are going to be some pieces that have to be cut shorter for corners, closets, etc. When the flooring gets delivered, it may be delivered on a pallet which is quite heavy. I had it delivered and left in my driveway until the day of installation when one by one those boxes were brought in to save space in my home.

Installation
Installation is super easy with step-by-step installation videos to help with your flooring or artificial grass install. Because of all of the corners, closets, and cutouts in my house, I decided to hire a professional flooring company which I’ll talk about a bit farther down in this post.

Flooring Install with VICTORY FLOORS:
I had gotten several quotes from different companies to install the floors. Some of the bids included completely ripping out the existing hardwood floors and laying down plywood, but because the integrity of the existing floors was still good, I decided to save a bit of money and just put the vinyl floors “floating” on top of the existing hardwood floors.
The install crew from Vicory Flooring and Construction showed up at 8 am and got to work. I was impressed with the efficiency and quality of their workmanship. They even installed the baseboard in the closets which most companies try to cut corners and not install there. Luckily, I did not need to cut the bottom of any doors for clearance over the floors. However, this is something to consider when installing flooring. Especially on top of another flooring.
Baseboard
Baseboards are another important factor to consider. The previous baseboard in these rooms was about 3.5 inches high. Because the workers were very careful in removing it, there were not any large gaps to fill on the wall, and were able to replace it with another 3.5-inch baseboard. If you have walls that crumble or leave gaps when the baseboard is removed, consider ordering a 4” or taller baseboard to cover those holes. Otherwise, you’ll have to patch and putty adding an extra step to your installation.
