This is 32: Staying Positive & Pushing Forward
Sometimes I think life moves so quickly that we forget to look back and take pride in our accomplishments. I am most definitely guilty of this because I am the kind of person always pushing forward trying to make my next goal become a reality.
My goal for 2020 was to kill it, financially. Get my real estate license and make what I like to call “f$ck you money.” Really it’s just a crude, way of saying “enough money to not have to worry about anything, particularly bills, a new house, and still be able to go on a nice trip to Paris, the Hamptons, or somewhere new.”
Then COVID hit. The economy started to fall, everyone’s anxiety was on ultra-high. I felt lucky that I am my own employer and I did not want to toss my 2020 dream out the window. Yet, as clients and brand partners started to slow their campaigns, or pause them all together, it created an extra layer of worry for me. Then a friend said something that really stuck with me. She told me that 2020 was not the year to focus on money. It instead was a time to enjoy life and take it slow.
I’m always torn between the ambition of wanting to work harder and play later versus trying to take it at my own pace and enjoy the journey along the way. We are often our own harshest critics and I honestly never feel like I am working hard enough. On the other hand, I always try to remember to enjoy life as it goes along never pushing myself to a point of exhaustion. She’s right though…2020is not the year to bring any more worry, negativity, or anxiety into our lives. We’ve had enough of that. Those dreams can be pushed back a few months and, instead, take time to enjoy what the universe is handing us at this moment.
So while my goals for 2020 may be put on hold, for now, I’ll relax a bit more and enjoy the simple pleasures in life like date nights with Omeed, our new puppy, the new house, and connecting with all of you. 2021, you just wait, because I am going to be ready as ever by the time you come along.
Thank you for reading and remember to be proud of your accomplishments and take time for yourself.
xoxo,
Laura
