Only a few days until Christmas! But not to worry! There are still plenty of ways you can get your home feeling festive without spending a lot of money! Today I’m sharing 10 easy holiday home decor ideas with you!
10 Easy Holiday Home Decor Ideas:
1. Choose a theme.
The hardest part of decorating any room is just choosing where to start. That’s why I recommend starting with a theme. I love the white winter wonderland theme with gold and silver accents.
2. Set out bowls of holiday candy
Everyone loves candy! My favorites are the white chocolate and peppermint candies from Lindt and Hershey’s candy.
3. Add a faux fur throw
It adds a bit of warmth and texture to your space. I picked up this faux fur throw from Target for $20 and it is so cozy!
4. Place fir branches around the house
I love trimming off a few branches from the tree and displaying them around the house. Try and cut from the back/bottom of the tree if possible. Trader Joes also has some really beautiful garland this time of year to place as a table centerpiece and over your mantel.
5. Hang stockings with handy stocking holders on your cabinets
If you don’t have an actual fireplace or mantel to hang your stockings, use stocking holders on a cabinet instead. Mine are from Target and these beaded versions from Nordstrom are beautiful!
6. Add in reindeer, Christmas trees, and pine cones
I’ve picked up most of my holiday decorations from after Christmas sales over the years from places like Home Goods, Target and Michaels. I’ve even picked up pine cones on walks and displayed them around the house. These little items add just the right amount of holiday touch to your space.
7. Hang lights on things other than the tree.
These rose gold star lights are from the dollar section at Target and can easily be hung anywhere around the house. I hung them on my bar cart for a little extra sparkle.
8. Wrap faux presents
Ah here I am giving away a major secret. Wrap some faux (fake) presents to help fill space under the tree! I always think a tree with only one or two presents looks quite sad, don’t you? I picked up all of this wrapping supplies from the Sugar Candy line at Target. Make sure to put name tags on the real presents!
9. Put away items that do not fit your theme
One of the best ways to make a room cohesive is to store items that do not fit in. You’ll notice I do not have any colors or patterns from other seasons (fall, spring, summer.) This helps completely transform the room into a winter wonderland!
10. Shop the holiday decor sales.
Michales, Target, and Home Goods always have such great finds. I like to go right when they start having their sales around Black Friday and after the holidays to stock up for next year.
Plus, this week I will also be sharing an exclusive article available only for my subscribers on how to style a holiday bar cart! So make sure to sign up for the Laura Lily newsletter here!

I agree choosing a theme helps pull your look together and helps you find similar items. I do find random items sometimes like and separate the. For different spaces. Looking forward to the tips to style a bar cart.

Hi Arlinda! Yes, without a theme in mind, decorating any room can get quite overwhelming. Starting with a color palette is the best.
