The best kind of vacations are the ones that you never want to leave. That was definitely the case with my recent stay at the Westlake Village Inn. A little gem of a place in Westlake Village with a Tuscany feel surrounded by lush gardens and serenity that will make you forget you’re even in southern California.
I had visited the The Stonehaus a while back; one of the three restaurants on the Westlake Village Inn property. I immediately put it on my bucket list of places I wanted to stay and my wish came true just a few weeks ago. The Inn’s on-site restaurants and amenities make it the perfect getaway location for a couple, friends and special events.
We started our stay early Sunday morning with the in house yoga instructor Julie. It was an intimate yoga session under the shade of a giant tree overlooking the golf course that surrounds the property. It was definitely worth waking up early for as the session set me at ease after the busy week I had had.
After yoga, we had a marvelous brunch at one of the property’s restaurants, mediterraneo. We ordered the French toast, pan plano mediterraneo, Chef’s Mess, mimosas, strawberry shortcake, and the warm toffee butter cake. Everything was absolutely delicious! Just FYI, mediterreano is only open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday. However, they are open for dinner seven nights a week.
After brunch, we headed over to The Stonehaus for some wine tasting. Fun fact, Stonehaus has their very own wine varieties from grapes grown on the Westlake Village Inn property! The labels on the bottles are by a local California artist from scenes around the property.
We shared the white and rosé varieties along with the prettiest charcuterie boards I have ever seen! The best drink of the day was the white sangria. It’s incredibly refreshing and beautifully mixed with fresh fruit.
After wine tasting, we checked into our Westlake Village Inn room. I stayed in one of the deluxe suites complete with a separate living room, private patio overlooking the gardens, and a jacuzzi.
We snuck in a bit of time at the pool before changing for dinner. We caught the most amazing sunset over the pond on our way over to mediterraneo. (The brunch was so good we had to try the dinner.) We got a table overlooking the pond and fountainS. Cedric the Entertainer was hosting a private party next door at Bogies, the property’s token night club. It was fun to watch the night unwind over there from our seats. We shared the bolognese and gnocchi dishes. I must say that the calamari was one of the best I’ve ever had. My suggestion, try to get a reservation on the patio!
The next morning Azusa and I got an early start to shoot some of these photos before the sun came up. There was some filming going on for the TV show Modern Family, but you would never have known except for the trailers in the parking lot. We got brunch at Stonehaus before taking a siesta early that afternoon. (Had to get another almond milk latte of course.)
Although the Westlake Village Inn has a lot of activities and dining options to offer ( a spa, pool, bicycles, wine tasting, to name a few,) it is still a very intimate setting with only about a five-minute walk between our room on one end of the property to Stonehaus on the opposite end. The piazza is shaded by vines with Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgeralnd playing on the speakers that just put me at ease. You pass by beautiful wooden doors to Bogies bar, the property’s club house, which I hear is the place to be Friday and Saturday night.
Thank you to the Westlake Village Inn for such a wonderful stay. You are my new favorite hotel in Los Angeles and I look forward to coming back again soon!
