There is nothing I love more than a bold beauty statement such as an intense pop of color on my lips or a metallic gold cat eye. Looks like these are very easy to create and push the boundaries just enough adding that extra wow factor to any outfit. When I have the option to go bold or more subdued, 99% of the time I’ll go bold. Just like life is too short to wear boring clothes, it’s too short to wear boring makeup, too.
So for today’s post I thought I would share how to create two beauty looks with you: tips for getting your bold lipstick to last and how to achieve a gold glitter cat eye. Read below to learn more…
Five Tips to Get Your Lipstick to Stay in Place
A lot of women tell me they never know how to get their lipstick to stay in one spot all day. So I put together a few tips to get your lip color to stay in place.
For this post I am using Temptu’s new Vivid Lip Collection. A set of intense, yet lightweight lipsticks that were practically made for me. After testing out 4 colors of the 12 available shades, it’s no wonder these lip colors won the 2015 & 2016 NYLON Beauty Award Winner. The color is so beautifully vibrant. I would apply the lipstick in the morning with minimal reapplication throughout the day. My lips never felt dehydrated and the color stayed intense and in place. Very important for bright colored lipsticks!
// Wearing “Imperial Red “//
Step One: Prep your lips by exfoliating. This removes any dead skin that could affect the evenness of the lip color. It is best to do this while your lips are damp, usually after the shower. You can use a washcloth, a sugar body scrub (they make these just for lips) or even your toothbrush. Just be gentle!
Step Two: Keep your lips hydrated with a good lip balm both while wearing lipstick and any time you are not. Supple lips hold color better than dehydrated lips.

Step Three: Lip liner is a must! Whether it is the same color as your lipstick, invisible or slightly lighter, lip liner creates a wax barrier that does not allow your lipstick to go outside the line. (Just avoid going darker than your lipstick, unless you want to look circa 1990.) I swear by lip liner and it’s one of the best defenses against your lip color bleeding around your lips. Take your lipsticks into a beauty store to match them to the perfect lip liner.

Step Four: Once you have a applied your lipstick, apply a concealer or translucent powder around the outside of your lips. You can use your finger, a Beauty Blender or a makeup brush to do this. The point is to again create a barrier for the lipstick to stay in place.
Step Five: Blot your lips with a tissue to absorb any extra product. This is an age old trick and for good reason. And extra little tip: I am notorious for getting lipstick on my teeth so I also wrap the tissue around my finger, put it in my mouth like I am going to such on a popsicle and then pull it out to get any product that was making it’s way on to my teeth.
The Gold Metallic Cat Eye

To create this look, I gently blended the Temptu metallic micro-fine powder with the TEMPTU Mixing Medium on my wrist. Then I took a thin eyeliner brush and followed the top line of my black cat eye. You could even apply the mixture to your lower lash line for extra impact.
