Behind the Scenes- Every once in a while life presents you with an opportunity and you don’t hesitate to take it. This was the case with being offered to film the behind the scenes of an upcoming reality television competition called “America’s It Girl.” A Project Runway meets America’s Next Top Model competition to find a girl who embodies everything the judges are looking for and more. My co-host Steve Galindo from the fashion blog Style Guyde and I were given a camera and a microphone and set free to explore the behind scenes of this competition. There was not a corner we didn’t scope out to get on tape.
Filming took place at the historic LA Exchange building in downtown Los Angeles, A runway was set where 70 years ago a stock exchange took place. I was in awe sitting on set watching the entire show come to life before my eyes. I’ve always loved being on set. Whether it is for a movie, television show, or photo shoot- there is always so much to see, people to meet, and things to learn.
I wore two looks for the filming. This look was from day 2 and was inspired by the rocker chic look I love so much. My makeup artist Jessy De Ortiz helped me create the perfect cat eye with big lashes and a bold lip color.
What was difficult is that because I am still learning what clothing looks good on camera, I had to be more careful in my styling. I knew that big and small patterns needed to be avoided. Patterns can look overwhelming or too busy on film. I went for a medium pattern dress by Jessica Simpson that I have featured on the blog before (see HERE.) Then I glammed it up with stunning accessories such as big hoop earrings, bangles, and rings.
Being on camera has never been scary for me. However it has taken lots of practice to get comfortable in front of the camera. My last public speaking engagement at the New Girl Exo really showed me how much I love speaking in front of an audience. After filming this show, I have decided that hosting is definitely something I would like to pursue.
