I just receive this dress via ShopLately last week and I couldn’t wait until the derby day races this weekend to wear it. How cute is it?! This outfit is what I would call “modern Great Gatsby style” with a drop waist yellow dress and a long beaded necklace.
The Dress was actually too short for me so I added the black shoulder straps to add a bit more length to it. Now it perfectly matches my favorite mini crossbody bag by Rebecca Minkoff. I bought the little bag as a present to myself for the 2 year anniversary of the blog. I remember seeing this pattern on the New York Fashion Week runway last year and just could not resist having a piece from the collection. I just cannot believe it has taken me this long to feature the bag on my blog because I wear it literally everyday. Make sure you are following me on Instagram to see the huge derby day hat I made to match this dress! DIY post coming soon!
I am also quite proud to admit that I took these photos myself. Yes, all by myself. Camera, tripod, and remote in hand. I do not always have the convenience of having my photographer(s)- boyfriend, mom, friends, fellow bloggers, professional photographers with me on a great outfit day. So if I have the time, I will set up my tripod in a quiet spot to take my own outfit photos. It can be weird at first, with people stopping to ask if I need their help. Normally I just smile and tell them know. What are the chances that they are a professional photographer? LOL- that would be awesome. I have spent the last two years getting to know as much as I can about photography. I like to challenge myself by shooting in different lighting and locations. All in all I’d say these photos came out pretty well- what do you all think?
