5 Ways to Avoid Holiday Stress:
The holidays seem to be a hectic time for a lot of people. We are all running around town trying to meet deadlines and buy presents before the clock runs out. Every year I tell myself I am going to get ahead and not wait until the last minute to get everything done. Yet, every year time escapes me and I find myself with a little holiday stress that I shouldn’t have. It’s important that we take this time to enjoy the holidays before they fly by. Here are 5 ways to avoid holiday stress…
1. Make a Checklist
Making a checklist will help keep you organized. Being able to check item by item off your list is very satisfying and gives you a sense of accomplishment. I keep all of my lists on my phone. A To-Do list, lists of items I need to buy at different stores, and a list of everyone I still need to get presents for. As soon as I accomplish a task, I delete it from my list.
2. Set Deadlines
Have specific dates in mind for when you are going to get something done. Example: Set a deadline to send out your holiday cards no later than December 15th. That way you know they will reach their destination in time for the holidays and you can check one more thing off your list!
3. Pamper Yourself
After a really hectic day, take an hour or so to pamper yourself. Get a manicure, apply a face mask at home, or get cozy and watch a Christmas movie with a big bowl of popcorn. Anything to help boost your spirits, unplug and calm your mind.
4. Ask For Help
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Sometimes a helping hand is all we need to make something that would have been stressful into an enjoyable experience. For example:I asked my boyfriend to help me get a Christmas tree this year. There is no way I would have been able to carry that thing up to my condo! And going with him to pick one out was a lot of fun!
4. Live in the Moment
Put your phone away and take in all of the beautiful sights around you before it’s too late. Go out to brunch with your friends, take a walk down light filled streets, and bake holiday cookies. Just take in all the small things this time of year has to offer.
5. Give back
It always feels good to give back and help someone less fortunate than yourself. Spend time giving back to those in need this holiday season. You can even help feed a hungry child by donating to my fundraiser for No Kid Hungry. A non-profit organization that helps feed hungry children in America. Every dollar counts and just $10 will help provide 100 meals! Everyone who donates will be entered to win over $300 worth of makeup!
And always, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read my holiday stress blog post.
Happy Holidays,
