A few weeks ago Liz said she wanted to throw a garden party so I jumped in to help. We managed to pull off a spectacular garden party for 10 women in a matter of three days. It was a crazy whirlwind of creativity, but it came out beautifully and I’d happily do it again. Only next time, we need MORE FLOWERS, an assistant, a dedicated photographer and an extra few hours to get everything together. Totally serious!
Day one: Spur of the moment invites (a text message saying “hey we’re throwing a garden party!) went out.
Day two: we went shopping and came up with a game plan of how we were going to set everything up.
Day three: woke up early to prep everything.
On the day of the party we only needed to run out to get ice and more flowers the day of. Liz is the hostess with the mostess so she didn’t ask anyone to bring anything. We started prepping food, flowers and place settings at about 7am the day of the party. (Guests started arriving around noon.) As the start time grew closer, we stored what we could in the fridge and kept a lot of food hot in the oven. There’s always that mad rush right before guests arrive. I ran upstairs to quick throw on my dress and make up on and Liz being the wonder woman that she is, managed to create another 2 bouquets of flowers, clean the kitchen and whip up the salad by the time I got downstairs.
I started to take photos of the set up, but then my camera SD card ran out of room. Next time, I’ll make sure to hire a photographer so that I can focus on greeting guests as they arrive and not worry about capturing photos.
I wore this fit and flare lace maxi dress in the color ‘Rose Petal’ for the party. How appropriate is that color, right? It actually comes in seven different colors! It has a beautiful tiered skirt that runs extra long (I am 5’9″ for reference and I’m wearing about 3.5 inch heels in these photos.) However, the skirt traps heat in and I kept tripping on the skirt trying to run around in heels. Next time, I’ll wear either their midi version or sheath dress which is also available in a ton of colors!
I’ve actually worn another midi dress by this same brand in this post. A much sexier version that I’d reserve for a semi-formal occasion such as a wedding or fancy dinner party. Their dresses do fit a bit snug without any stretch so go up if you’re in between sizes!
