A DIY Beaded Emilio Pucci Clutch as seen on the runway last year! It’s been a while since I have posted a DIY project which is weird because I have at least 5 sitting around my house. I have been inspired to make this clutch for a while after I saw it on Evelina’s Fashion Cafe, but I needed to find the right box clutch. Thanks to Mellow World for this one. It’s only $30 and comes in every color of the rainbow.
What you’ll need are:
-1 clutch (the one I used is from Mellow World)
– glue
-an assortment of beads
I bought most of these beads at Michael’s craft store for about $50 total. You can spend more or less depending on the types of beads you use. But imagine this clutch in the store- handmade would cost you a couple hundred dollars!
Step 1:
Start off with a centerpiece and start adding beads around it. You can either lay your ideal beads down first and then glue, or just go for it. Putting the glue on the clutch first instead of gluing each bead individually helps save time and keep your beads from rolling around.
Step 2: Continue to add beads around existing beadwork.
Step 3: Use small beads to fill in any gaps. Let dry for a day and voila! You have a beautiful hand beaded clutch. To be completely honest with you, this took me about 5 hours to make. I was, of course, distracted a bit watching Sex and the City. But just be warned. I am still incredibly proud of it and loved making it.
I am brining this baby to New York Fashion Week with me next week. Follow my Instagram @Laura_Lily to see how I style it with my outfits! And of course, feel free to leave any questions or comments below.
